What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and how does it work?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) refers to an additional security layer for authenticating access to undertake internet based transaction. It is the process of user verification via a unique and randomly generated password from a unique security device (either in the form of soft or hard tokens) linked to his/her online Service Provider.
